Agent FAQs

Ladder for Agents FAQs

+   What is Ladder for Agents?

Ladder for Agents is a program built and designed for agents that allows you to easily refer clients to Ladder for term life insurance. Instead of spending time searching for quotes and sending clients through the traditionally long process of applying for a life insurance policy, you can partner with Ladder to provide your clients with easy life insurance and an instant decision.

+   What will I receive from Ladder?

Once your background check has been completed and you're approved, you'll receive a welcome email from Ladder with your unique referral link to share with your clients and a direct link to your agent dashboard, where you can find additional materials with more information about Ladder.

+   How will I know if my clients buy a policy?

Our platform allows your clients to share policy information with you. Sign in to view your dashboard and easily track your clients' term life application progress.

+   Can all of my clients apply?

Ladder facilitates fully underwritten individual term life policies to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents who have lived in the United States for more than 2 years. People ages 20-6- years old are eligible to apply.

+   Will my clients require a lab appointment?

If your clients apply for $3M or less in coverage, they will not be asked to complete a health check. However, they will have to answer questions on the application about their health. For a larger amount of coverage, they may be asked to complete a health check. Health checks are free and designed to be convenient. A traveling technician will visit your client's home or office—wherever they prefer. During the appointment, the technician will ask them a few questions, measure their height and weight, take their blood pressure and pulse, and collect a urine and blood sample.

+   Who can I contact with questions?

We're here to help. Please reach out to agents@ladderlife.com with any questions, concerns, or feedback and we'll get back to you shortly.

Approval FAQs

+   What's the process for getting approved?

We designed Ladder for Agents so that you can start referring your clients as quickly as possible.

Here's how it works:
If you're a licensed agent, contact your network to access the Ladder for Agents sign-up page.
Submit your information and consent to a background check from Choice Screening.
If approved, you'll receive an email welcoming you to Ladder for Agents. This email will include a link to your dashboard with all the tools you need to get started.
Please note: You must hold a life insurance producer license for each jurisdiction where you solicit customers for Ladder products. You may not solicit customers for Ladder products in New York, regardless of licensing status.

Dashboard FAQs

+   What's the agent dashboard?

The agent dashboard is where you’ll find all the tools you need to create price estimates and track your clients’ progress from the sending of an estimate to the binding of a policy. You’ll also find your unique tracking link that can be shared with your clients to start their application.

+   What does the dashboard track?

The dashboard tracks the number of price estimates you send using the “Share this estimate” feature. You’ll be able to see which client you sent the estimate to along with their coverage amount, term length, and monthly price. The dashboard also tracks when a client purchases a policy. Unfortunately, at this time we can’t track personalized emails that include your unique link. We will, however, be able to track your client’s progress once they’ve started an application and agreed to share their progress with you.

+   How frequently is the dashboard updated?

The dashboard is updated in real-time as your clients progress through the application process.

+   How many application status and underwriting details can I see?

You’ll be able to see when a client starts an application, when an application is being processed by our underwriting team, and when a policy’s been offered. We don’t provide specifics about status when applications are going through the manual underwriting process. We can provide information directly to your client if they’d like more details about their application status. They can reach out to our customer experience team through their account page anytime, or email us at help@ladderlife.com.

+   What does each status in the dashboard mean?

Incomplete: Your client started an application, but they haven’t submitted it yet

Processing: Your client submitted an application, which is being reviewed by Ladder’s underwriting team

Offer given: A policy has been offered to your client

Declined: Your client’s application has been declined

Closed: Your client’s application is no longer active

Credit/Payment FAQs

+   How do I get credit for policies I've sold?

Your unique tracking link is tied to the email you used to sign up with Ladder for Agents. Sharing your estimate from your dashboard or pasting your unique tracking link into an email will allow you to track a client’s progress from the start of an application to the binding of a policy. Your clients must use the “Get started” button in the estimate email or use your referral link in order for you to track their progress and receive credit for their policy.

+   I haven't received payment for commissions or referrals earned. Where can I go for information?

Please reach out to your agency or network for help receiving compensation.

Policy/Application FAQs

+   Where do I go for questions about Ladder policies?

If you or your clients have questions about Ladder policies, visit our Help Center to learn more. You or your client can also contact us for help.

+   What happens if I purchase a policy for myself using my own tracking link?

You’ll be able to track your own progress from your dashboard just as you would a client using your unique tracking link. You’ll also earn a commission or referral fee.

+   How can I improve my client's rating?

Your client’s rating is based on a number of factors, like age, health, and gender. Because these factors are considered carefully, there isn’t anything that can be done to influence their rating. If your client has questions about their rating, they can reach out to our customer experience team at any time through their account page.

+   Why is my client's application still pending?

In some cases, Ladder isn’t able to give an instant offer due to a client’s specific situation. When an application is pending, it means it’s still with an underwriter who will potentially reach out to your client to request additional information. If your client has questions, you can direct them to our customer experience team, who they can contact from their account page.

+   Why was my client declined?

Ladder will email your client with the reasons they were declined. If your client has questions, they can always reach out to our customer experience team through their Ladder account page.

Agency FAQs

+   What should an agency do if an agent no longer works for them?

Please email agent-help@ladderlife.com with the agent’s information.

+   Is there required training for agents to sell policies through Ladder?

Ladder will provide information about Ladder’s policies, along with a Compliance Manual that details how they need to be sold.
